For those who use Internet Explorer, our software is based on a signed and protected ActiveX object which is capable creating a unique identification for your computer based on hardware information collected dynamically. Users of other browsers (i.e. Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox) will download the software by using an equally safe and signed plugin object. Legitimi collects different data at each access and use same to form your computer's digital DNA. This information includes data on your hard drive, processor, motherboard, network interfaces, etc. Depending on your browser's security settings you may have to confirm the installation/execution of the Active X object or plugin (just click OK on the popup window). This object is only downloaded on your first access or when Legitimi releases a new version. If you have received a Legitimi Installation Kit on any other media, no object download is necessary (and you will not be prompted when accessing an associated website). The Digital DNA is calculated, encrypted and sent to Legitimi's authentication center. From then on, Legitimi authenticates your machine and authorizes secure access to any associated website (please note that this will not work for websites not associated with the Legitimi system). Even if a hacker intercepts your computer's Digital DNA in one of your accesses to an associated website, he will not be able to send this data to the Legitimi Authentication Center and pose as yourself. Q. What happens if I reinstall my operating system of make hardware changes to my computer? A. Normally, nothing. Your Digital DNA does not change as a result of usual changes to your configuration, and your machine will still be identified correctly by the Legitimi Authentication Center. All Active X or plugin objects are signed and protected, which means hackers can't take advantage of same with malicious intent. The Digital DNA is sent to Legitimi using SSL (which means this transmission is at the same level of security of the accessed e-commerce or banking website. Legitimi supports all versions of Microsoft Windows - from 9.x and Me to Win2000, XP and Vista - Smartphones, MAC and Linux.
